Comp Can't Find On-board Sound Card...

Reformatted my comp and got it back up to win xp and updated, but I can't get the sound to turn on.. I can't identify my motherboard so I don't know what kind of drivers I should use for my on-board sound... Any advice? The comp knows it's there, just doesn't know what it is.. when I bring up the device manager, it shows my sound under the "Other Devices" section.

You should be able to get the info you need from a program such as Balarc Adviser:

    http://www.tucows.com/preview/198595

If you can't figure it out, post the info you got from Balarc into this thread - someone will no doubt figure out where to get your chipset drivers, or whatever.

    My computer... is possessed..... :bs_imgoingtoeatyou:

Went to the site for my Mobo manufacturer, and according to them, my Mobo doesn't exist.. could explain the on-board sound missing.. :P

I sent em a problem description through thier feedback thingy, then I tossed my Warcraft 3 CDs in to install it for when I get sound back.. And I got my ear right by the speaker when the splash screen sound blairs out....

I turn it down, wondering when my comp is gonna start spinning in circles and projectile vomitting CDs... I restart it cause windows update is done, and now it can find my sound, and everything i've tried plays..

Thinking of calling and exocist, but then it might not work at all. :throw:

Punchin, I really love your sense of humor!!!:1010: It sounds [bad choice of words] that the Microsoft updates may have corrupted the sound drivers. I would uninstall and resinstall them.

And if that were my PC..............well............read my signature.....that once happened when on WinME!!!............I would treat it REALLY NICE

Punchin, your comp is a HP Pavilion 753n, the MSI board MS-6577 is an OEM therefore MSI do not give support, and HP give it a dummy name of XEON look here for all the spec on your comp http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...cname=bph07843
