    accessing problem

I have a clevo d900t laptop and I just recieved like a week a go
specs are 3.2 intel p4, Intel 915P+ICH6 LGA-775 Mobile Motherboard, 1gig ram geil, 60 gig hdd 7200rpm (on scsi promise sata 378 ide), 6800 ultra go

I then installed Guild Wars and got an interesting problem whenever the hard drive light goes on the system like frezzes for a few seconds then goes off and it runs fine well i thought it was an isolated incodent then i went to word 2003 and it screws up there as well writting in everything i put in after the hdd light goes out. I looked into getting updated drivers for the scsi card and i couldn't find a **** thing (current drivers are 1.00.0.29), i then did a test on the hdd with the western digital utility and it checked out fine, i have done a memorey test, cpu test and videocard test seem like it is all fine, i then did a 3dmark 2003 test never stopped once during the test but of course no hdd light came on either.

I don't know how to test the scsi card or what else I should do I can't think of anything else i can run to test my system settings. any help would be great!

    thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply! Well i did something sience my last post I reinstalled windows (again) and before i installed anything but the default from the sp2 disc I loaded up office and went into word 2003 (because sometimes i would see the hdd light go on and the what i was typing stopped well it would come up right out of buffer before) well i did that and i had the same problem it would stop in the middle of what i was typing with the hdd light on, so decided to install the chipset drivers, still the same problem with word.

well i didnt want to keep me down so this time i downloaded the client from guild wars website and had the same repetative problem as I posted originally. well there are no new scsi drivers sience june and I have the hick up problem on when the hdd light is on. sorry for the lack luster details the last post but i had been cramming on this problem for 16hours  and was beet so yesterday was a new day and i still couldn't do anything about it, again any help would be appreciated

    thanks kayden

oh i almost forgot i didn't load av or a firewall when i did the test with word or with guild wars just the bare bones drivers for my mb chipset, sound card, and videocard

Well folks I called my tech support for the laptop, can you believe they thought it was a memory error! Did a mem test for 10 hours and nada, but I did call them back and tell them about it and then they said and quote "sounds like that controller is hosed" so here we go with shipping it back and all that good jazz.

If any one has problems with there "WinXP Promise Sata 378(tm) ide controller" I now have versions 1.00.0.16, .26 & .29 if any one else is having problems with the older drivers let me know I can hook you up with newer drivers.

    Thanks for the help anyways.
