Pieces stuck in disc drive

Pieces stuck in disc drive
I had a broken disc and wanted to see if it was still usable. So I put the pieces on the tray of the disc drive. But two of the pieces fell back into it. They will not come back out on the tray. The tray comes back empty. And it won't stay closed. Does anyone know how to get the pieces out myself? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
I think you've learned that you can't add pieces into the tray and expect it to work
. You can always request a new CD if it's important, ex Windows CD. Just contact the software vendor. Now I'm not quite sure on how this is looking, if you have a digital camera is it possible to take a picture of it? The keyword here is being, highly gentle. Take a knife, or some other object, fork etc. Remember gentle. find a place where you can stick the knife, ex on the sides. and pull gently out. You should be able to catch it, and take the tray out and remove the pieces from there. On some older CD drives, there is a gear where you can stick the knife at and turn it manually and it'll eject. Again welcome and hopefully this helps

The tray comes out, it just comes out with nothing on it. The pieces are stuck somewhere inside the drive. The tray won't stay inside. It goes in when you push the button, but it comes back out after a few seconds. I can't see the pieces.

Ah, sorry! I found a nice tutorial on how to install a drive, remember be very careful! I'm not sure if you've ever done this before, but this is the best way I can think of.

Now this is to install a drive, we need to remove your drive. So it's best to follow them in reverse, once the drive is out, ground yourself well (touch the metal part of the case), open the tray and see if you can see in there. Be gently when trying to remove the parts, not to have it to "stab" any components inside. Then follow these directions to replace it. Something shouldn't be important, cables, etc just remember what cable it is and you can add it. Don't change jumper settings etc even if this tutorial tells you to.

Oh my. I don't know anything about this kind of stuff. I don't know if me taking out the drive would be a good idea. I might make the problem worse. I'll look it over though. Thanks so much for your help and quick response. And for not laughing at me for doing something so stupid. Thanks =)

We've all done somethings other may think is stupid  That's all that comes to my mind, however there are quite a few talented members who can give you more options, so don't quite do it yet, just the only one awake now so it will probably be tomorrow
, but sure beats takin' the drive out!
