    Burned USB drive... bad motherboard?

    Hello
I have an question about USB Flash stick.
My 512 USB stick heated up a lot every time i used it (actually i used it only 3-4 times). On different computers it did not head up as much. So yesterday i leave my stick to the computer all night long & in da morning my drive did not work anymore (mine & neither in any other computer) & i believe i smelled even a little burning. Something similar happened whit my friend 256MB stick some moths ago. I just got my mother board (Soyo Sy-P4VGA) changed - could it be that something got connected wrong on mother board & that's why it burned out? I know the front USB is connected to the motherboard manually Or could the problem be the software or stick by himself? The stick worked well before whit other computers thought...
Have You guys heard something like that before? How could i test if my USB is connected correctly?

Its either the motherboard or it could be the USB Ports were wired incorrectly, however, for the most part if they were wired incorrectly the drive would've been shorted out upon inserting it. However, if you've got an unused Optical Mouse you won't mind losing, plug it in and see what happens, if it fries the USB ports are wired inccorectly (normally polarity is reversed).

However, Soyo isn't exactly the world's best brand in terms of PC Hardware, my suggestion would be invest in a halfway decent board

Okey, i will try the trick whit mouse, i borrow my brothers new one lol.

I cant find from manual exacly how is the right way to wire this... i have 5 & 4 pins on board... & cables are 4 & 4+1 ground.

What motherboard would be really good one, - under $150? I have an P4S800 (asus) - but this one was cheep also.

    Thanks

Hi Waffa Asus makes a half decent motherboard the P4s800 is ok but there is another one thats good P4P800-x Socket 478 and is within that price range.
    Cpu support-socket478;up to p4 3.4Ghz
    Bus speed-up to 800 mhz
    PCI/x16/x1-1/4 slots
    Max.Memory-4 dimm/4gb DDR400
