    Hiya Rob
I'm going to guess that your using Windows XP :?
I would carry on with the setup wizard until it gives you the name of the program it is trying to set up. You can simply cancel the installation.
Now go to Start>Run and type msconfig. In the top right corner you will see a tab called Startup. Click on it and locate the program that is starting. It will probably be called something like 'Firefox setup.exe'.
Uncheck the program, click on Apply and restart your computer.

    Hope this helps

As far as i know there are no conflicts between Firefox and Windows. There is always the chance that something will go slightly wrong, as a lot of people found out when installing SP2 to their Windows XP systems. I had the exact same problem as you after i installed SP2 (a setup wizard opening). Mine turned out to be my wireless network card setup wizard.
Glad you got your problem sorted out Rob Although i would still reccomend installing Firefox or possibly Opera8 as an alternative browser

I curently use aol. the reason i tried to get fire fox was because when i use msn messanger it defaults explorer to open my email which then SEEM'S (??) to then cause pop ups. if i installed fire fox would i be able to completely delete/uninstall i.explorer?

    cheers for the help
