    DVD is not showing

Hi - I need help again. I have been burning DVD's all morning without any problems. This afternoon tried to burn a Roxio movie to DVD and it keeps stopping saying there is a error, tried in Nero and the same problem happened...stopped with error. When I go into My Computer the DVD drive shows but when I insert a blank DVD it comes up with CD Drive- if I click on it shows 'E\is not accessible' incorrection funtion.

How do I get this back to a DVD drive as I need to print off some videos and photo albums for a client for my new business I've started.

    Hi ,

    Firstly :

Right click My Computer > Manage > Device Manager

Open the DVD / Cd Rom branch of the options and check if there is an error - normally shown by a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark .

Double click the drive you are having the problem with and you'll open the device properties box . Click the driver tab and select update driver . Let windows search automatically for an update . This will scan both the system driver cache and the internet for any updated drivers .

If that fails to resolve the issue switch off the pc , open the pc casing , make sure to earth any static electricity by touching bare metal casing and unplug the data transfer lead and power supply to the drive . Plug them back in and reboot the pc .

Failing that you might need to update the firmware for the drive or get the latest drivers from the manufacturers website .

Click the driver tab and select update driver
Optical drives don't need any extra drivers since Win 2K.

    One of these may help:
    1. Uninstall the drive through Device Manager.
Restart computer. The drive will be automatically reinstalled.
    or...
    2. Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
    Restart computer.
    or...
    3. Download, and run Restore Missing CD Drive patch
Double click on cdgone.zip to unzip it.
Right click on cdgone.reg, click Merge.
    Accept registry merge.
    Restart computer.
    or...
    4. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
    You'll see two items:
    - ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
    - ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstall. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.
