    A Better or faster processor

Hi, I wonder if anyone could suggest a decent processor for this motherboard : Motherboard - Gigabyte EP41-UD3L. At the moment I am usine a duel processor pentium 4631 Presler D 3.00 GHZ.
I feel it could go a bit faster on a better Processor. Thank you.

Right, first of all thank you for the quick response.
I am using pc2-6400 667 RAM. I like to play games like Joint ops and BF2142. I am using winxp pro 64 bit system. The processor I have at the moment is an intel Duel - proc 4631 Presler D. 3.00 GHZ.
There are so many processors in the list , I have not got a clue which one would be best with the specs I have. Any suggestions please. I dont want to go up to quad core yet.

Ummm, why not? If the budget supports it, that's what I would do. Otherwise, set your budget, then look at your options.

I have 2 x 2GB 6400 RAM at the moment. If I went up to quad, would I need to change my RAM for a different strength? If not, I would seriously consider what you suggested. Also if this was ok, could you suggest a reasonably priced quad processor?. I think maybe 50 to 100 pounds. What do you think.
    Cheers.

Hmmm, I think finding a quad for 100 quid is not going to be easy. Perhaps some UK readers can help.

You could well be right Digerati, I will leave it then for a while, until funds go up.
All the best for the help and advice.

You may probably already know this, but just to be doubly sure I'll answer the first part to a question you posed earlier.

Regarding changing ram, no you do not need to.
