I was able to save my documents to my external hard drive before my laptop running windows xp went down.
I erased the laptops hard drive and re-installed windows. Everything is working fine except I can't get the external hard drive to be recognized.
I get this message, " Windows cannot use this hardware because it has been prepared for "safe removal" but it has not been removed from the computer. (code 47)
To fix this problem, unplug the device from your computer and plug it in again"
I have repeatedly done this to no avail.
I have connected the external dive to 3 laptops with the same issue. None show the drive in "my computer" screen and all show the same error message.
Can anyone help, my documents contain important stuff that I hate to loose.
