    Sony brand CD drive

I have a disc stuck in my CD drive. I have tried ejection by software, by pushing the button on the front of the drive, and by sticking a paperclip in the little hole above the volume control knob. I am not particularly concerned about recovering the disc, but there could be future occasions for using this drive. Should I just yank in out of the case and buy a new drive, or are there other options?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, if you "just yank in out" be prepared to potentially replacing the drive.

If the paper clip didn't release the media tray, you should power down, and remove the drive from the system. Remove the four screws holding the cover on the drive. The media will then be accessable to you.

I agree with Dan - but I think I would try the paper clip again. Unless you heard serious crunching sounds, that should work. On some drives, you have to press it in pretty far before you contact the mechanical release lever, then you have to press more to pop it out. Make sure the computer is powered off when doing this.
