    Question Lagging Video

Also when networked using a netgear N series cabled to 85mbs wireless plugs I get lag on video playback . I use VLAN for medial playback . The wireless signal from even N series router is almost unusable in the seperate rooms So the plugs act as signal enhancer and provide ethernet LAN connection .

Just general networking disturbance ? There is a lot of heating pipes and water boiler between directly between the WAP that used to barely get a signal from a G series wireless router .

I have split this topic to a new thread. Please add computer and OS specs to your reply.

Cabled to wireless plugs? Please explain - how is this network setup?

Wireless networks are just two-way radios that operate using LOS, or "line of sight" propagation - there must be a straight line of travel between the source and destination antennas, no curvature of the Earth, bouncing off the troposphere, or skyscrapers. So if the straight line is through a solid block of pipes and the boiler, (and I would hope a couple thick walls too!) then that sure could affect signal quality. The boiler is probably made of some kind of metal, and full of water - not the best conductor of high-frequency radio-waves. You need to move the WAP, or the computer, or both - or go Ethernet. But first, take the computer to the WAP and see if you have lag with only 3 feet, no boiler, no pipes, no thick walls between them.
