    Question Slow Boot

    Hi ,

I currently have an IBM Thinkpad Z61m as a backup to my main tower system . Set on a LAN for filesharing . I keep my PC's running clean as possible , regular temp file cleaning , registry cleaning , etc . I've noticed recently that on boot up the laptop seems to boot into OS very slowly the actual pc boot to OS ( sign in screen ) is sufficiently quick . Laptop specs are :

    IBM Thinkpad Z61m
    Vista Home Premium SP2
    3 gig DDR2
    Dualcore T7200 @ 2.0ghz
    120 gig SATA2 HD
    ATI Mobility Radeon x1400

I've used msconfig to limit the boot to only the required apps on startup , I defragment the HD regularly . All VM settings are correct . When I do get finally into the functional OS and use things like event manager to see what might be causing the problem there are no errors . Software used is rarely changed as we all have our product preferences engrained over the years , but I have tendency to use more RAM efficient software .

    Has anybody any idea's

Some times would help. Are we talking several minutes here?

    Any errors in Device Manager?
