    Amrel RT686 + supply problem

    hi , i have a little problem with my RT686 Rocky II+

I used this laptop last month without problem , after during one month which i do not use , when i decided to re-use , i switch on and suddenly i see flashes on the screen like a problem with the power supply i decided to do a check-up on the system :

    my conclusion :

    - 1) the laptop runs correctly with a battery whitout power ac pluged. ( no flashes)
    - 2) the laptop not runs at all without battery and the power supply installed.
    - 3) the laptop seems not switch on the power supply , i see it because when the laptop runs with the battery and power supply i have alarm of low battery. ( in this case the screen flashes)

    - 4) the led of battery flashes when the laptop is off and in charge ( it is an orange led)
    - 5) i have tested on similar RT686 and i have the same problem.
    - 6) i check the power supply and i have 19v DC

    Questions :

It is possible that problem comes from the battery ( very low capacity)

or the power supply have a default.

Someone could test on his own RT686 and see if the laptop runs without battery. I

    Thanks for your help

Battery is probably the problem. I had to send mine off to get refilled to repair mine. With mine it made the mouse jump all over the screen.

I hope you have the polarity on the 2 pins right on your power supply. If you look through the amrel posts on this forum there is a diagram of pin polarity and a post by me on what side is positive and which side is negative. I am to lazy to look for it today so you will need to find it by typing in the search box on forum. Good Luck.

Also, I have ran my Amrel Rt686 without a battery inserted and just off the power supply to answer your other question. Even with the rught voltage being shown on your power supply the amperage it should be putting out is 3 amps. You need to check that out also with a Good VOM or Amp Meter.

it seems that the problem comes from the power supply because the laptop doesn't run when i use the power supply only.

But i will do some test with another power supply ....
