    Angry Failing ADVENT T9100 PC

Help!! My daughter (in Spain) has an ADVENT T9100 PC. It has been switching itself off for some time and is now unusable. It stays on when displaying the BIOS, but switches off as soon as you ask it to do anything else. I have tried to reinstall XP, but it went right through the installation and switched off at the point of entering the product code. All the bits that should be clean and dust free are so and there are no loose or burned things visible. When it turns off, the purple light on the front is out but a fan is still running (somewhere) inside. My instinct is a U/S power supply or hard drive but there is no faciity to check either and I am rapidly losing credibility as an electrical engineer!!!. Can anyone cast any light on this subject? (Please)

    Hi

    This just happened to me.

I registered on this site just to answer this question.

    Try downloading the manual here.

    download.ecsusa.com/dlfileecs/manual/mb/eng/p4/SF2_22.pdf

You will have to play around with the jumper that resets the CMOS.

The Red and black jumpers that are near the battery.

It is all on page nine of the manual.

Then re enter the pc in safe mode. by hitting F8 button on boot.

    I hope this helps.

    Dear r0man,
Thank you very much for your considered reply to my post. I am afraid that I will not be able to try it until my next visit (next month). However, it may be interesting to note that joining DAL is not wasted,as I joined for this original fault, since then I have been well advised on clearing a fault on my own computer which occurred when I installed the updated Internet Explorer.
    Thanks again,
    Michaelc
