Sounds like the CPU is overheating. Most have an auto shutdown feature when too hot.

The 0 degree probably just indicates the sensor shut down.

Is this a new problem? Was everything working OK previously?

Any new hardware? Have you opened the case to inspect and clean out any dust?

...and what program do you use to monitor temperatures?

    the heat always 46!
    i use intel desktop utilities

when i use big things like games it turn to 50 -52 max!

i don't think it is over heat

i never saw cpu over heat from 46 !!?
46 is normal for core 2 due!

also if i have over heat it will pop up message from the program to tell me
    i set it on 60!

    thx for ur time

    any other idea!?

Try running the Prime95 torture test. Also I've found SpeedFan to be good for measuring and logging the CPU temps. If you are running it and your computer crashes you will know what it was at when you look up the file provided the censor is good. Is there a page in your BIOS that tells you the temps? I second the cleaning out dust especially the CPU heat sink.

Steps to begin the diagnosis of BSOD errors aka Blue Screen of Death

To discover the type of Errors the machine has encountered recently, use Event Viewer.
    1. Go to Start - Run, type eventvwr.msc, then Press Enter.
    2. When the Event Viewer opens, there will be two panes.
The left pane is for event categories (Application, Security, and System).
The right pane is for event messages (Information, Warning, and Error). (We want to find errors.)
    3. Left-click the Application category in the left pane and check for any error messages in the right pane.
You want to find the one(s) that occurred at the same time your system encountered the problem you have posted about.
    4. Repeat the previous step for each category, or until you find an appropriate error to investigate.
    5. Double-click the error message to bring up the information.
    6. Click the third button on the right side of the information window (copies information)
    7. Paste the information here

Also turn off the auto restart function:

How to turn off Auto Restart in XP

    Right click on My Computer

    Select Properties

Select the Advanced tab then the Startup & Recovery section

    Select the Settings button

Uncheck "Automatically restart" and then click Apply

This will give you a Blue Screen with the error message rather than restarting the computer.

Write down the error detail then use the reset button on the computer to restart.

Also while in this section change the Write debugging information setting to:

    Kernel memory dump

Basic information about these errors can be found here:

    Troubleshooting Windows STOP Messages

Then if your Blue Screen is showing a Memory Dump do the following:

Go to start | Search | All files and folders and type in .dmp in the All or part of the file name: box.
Note the location of your .dmp files.
If no .dmp files check for minidump.
Remember this location and the path that leads to it.

    Then:

    1) Download and install the

    Debugging Tools from Microsoft

All you need do is download and install this. Make no attempt to start or run it.

    2) Download and install this

    debugwiz

This is a DOS based batch file that will command the above Microsoft Tools.

    thank you Joe Hobart

    3) Open the Wiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.

    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document post it back to your thread.

Please do not attach it or post in [code]: just plain text: thanks.

An alternative "reader" can be found here (also requires the Debugging Tools from Microsoft):

    Who Crashed

    Post back your results.

    For best results please:
    1) State your OS(s), any software involed in your problem, & any major updates (i.e. service pack, version, edition, service release, roll up, beta release, distribution [Linux], etc.) to your OS/software as applicable to your problem.

i formated my pc this weak and got same problem
    had windows xp home edition
    now using xp pro sp2
so i don't think the os or any program have somthing in it!

    2) For hardware issues also provide your system information: RAM, processor, etc. in addition to your OS.

    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz

    WDC WD800BB-00CAA1 (80.0GB)
    WDC WD3200JS-22PDB0 (320.1GB)
(i tried each 1 alone and nothing changed)

    got 1 gb ram
tried to changed it also the same

the power supply is 500W also tried to changed it got same thing

the screen card i am using nivdia px8400 gs
i took it off and used the board build in card still same

    the Mother board also intel
i think it is LGA 775

i am using the speed fan to check things out!
    Extra info :
    hope i found my problem

    what is ICH and MCH?
in speed fan have burning pic at it
in intel mentor it is normal
    the ICH heat is 73

maybe this ius my problem ?

i clean my pc from dust every day!
have 2 extra fans on the right as get air insile and 1 in the back to take off the hot air!

the blue screen didn't show up!
even i did what u say about it to let it show!

It reached 60 C after running Prime95 for only 8 minutes? Thats not good. If I where you I would run it for at least 30 minutes to see how hot it gets. However if at any point it hits 70 I would stop prime95 and shut down your computer for about 15 minutes. I would also get a can of compressed air and clean out the fan on your CPU's heat sink. I recommend that you run Prime95, clean out your heat sink, and then run it again.

Are you getting this from Speedfan? If so please provide a screenshot.

I don't know what to think about those temps. Sorry. Did you rerun prime95 or clean out your heat sink?
