    BIOS password

I have been asked by a client to try and retrieve a BIOS password. I have tried PHOENIX, phoenix, CMOS and BIOS but nothing works. It is Phoenix BIOS on an Acer Aspire 1500.
When I start Windows in Safe Mode, it lists all the system32 drivers and files it needs, but then just loops back. Sometimes it even starts to load Windows and then loops back in the middle of it.
Of course, no CMOS password recovery program will work, as I can't boot from the CD, even with one in there!
    Any suggestions?

There is two ways you can reset the password on BIOS.

    1. There is jumpers which is usually by the CMOS battery, take the jumpers and move them to different pins. For example, if the jumpers are on pins 1 and 2 move the jumpers to 3 and 4.

    2. Remove the Battery for couple of hours which will reset the BIOS with/out password.

If you look at my tread that I posted Jephree explains how to reset the password on BIOS. My tread is "need some advice on storing XP"

Is the BIOS asking for a password before it will load the system?

I found the manual online but it wasn't any help but removing the CMOS battery [not the battery pack] should work but I don't think it will take a few hours. Also there should be a jumper for clearing the BIOS. You must have the computer off when you remove the battery or setting the jumper and you must protect your computer from ESD. Sorry that I can't give you anything else. Good luck.

If you had a BIOS password then your BIOS POST would not even start without the password. No way you'd ever get near Windows booting.

What makes you think you have a BIOS password?

What exact messages do you receive?
