Red face video card issues ... ? damaged ?? heated ?? or the end of its normal life ??

okay .... first of all .. i have posted a thread about the same issue before ... but that thread ended that the video card is damaged/overheated but i read some where that heat never damage the video card untill 65/70 degrees i never got close to that ... so thats why i am making a new thread ...

okay back to the thread ...
i have video card which ran very good with me for 2 years now ...
but recently i bought CSS and it worked fine .. then after a while it started to crash after about 2 hours .... it was probably a modifications issue so it did not matter...
    then i bought COD4
which after i bought it i found that i dont pass the video card requirment for it ...
the game ran perfectly ( no lags / colour glitches ) but it crashes alot ... but still CSS and all other games ran normally .... but just recently everything went bad ... all my games ... starting from the worst to the best ... all of them crash after about 5/20 minutes .... and all of them the same way ... i get colour glitches then a complete crash ... i do leave my pc on for like 6 days some times but till now i never faced a temp for GPU or CPU higher than 60 .. as a matter of fact it never reached 60 only 57/58 ... now it was said that it could not over heat untill 65/70 so what damaged it ??? i am not sure its damaged but it is probably ... so what do you guys think ???
note : some times just some times when i leave it like 2 days off the games work for about 1.5/2 hours ... but then it crash and back to only 5/20 minutes ..

    thanks for support !

Is the rest of the computer clean of heat trapping dust and dirt?

If so, open the side panel and blast a desk fan in there while using it, and see of it crashes.

Too long is weeks - but even then it happens - we all have other obligations.

    1. Driver updates? Do you need to do one?

    2. Remove it and check for Bulging and Leaking Capacitors. Thats how I lost my last graphics card although in my case it just didn't work period. Worth checking though.

    3. How hot does your GPU get during game play when stress is really being put on it. You don't need to know how hot it is getting when idle but when under heavy use. RivaTuner will allow you to log the temps.

    4. Are you sure that your PSU is supplying enough power to it?

    5. Is the fan adequately working? Does it have dust in it?

    6. Do you have it over clocked? If so you might want to reset it to the default settings.

That all I can think of for now but yes it could be damaged or dying.

for drivers ... yes i have the latest drivers for everything ....

my GPU hits 58/59 when the game stresses... note : this was sensored my Everest home edition

yes i am pretty sure my PSU can run my video card

the fan working probably and yes i got lots dust in the whole case ..

what does over clocked mean ???

and for the second question "remove it " remove what the video card ??

Overclocked means to run it faster than it was intended to run. If you don't know what it is then you probably didn't do it.

Yes I do mean to remove the video card to check the capacitors and also to blow dust out of the fan with compressed air. Caution: You must protect the card from electrostatic discharge. Don't stand on carpet & touch the metal frame before touching any components. Preferably you would wear an anti-static wrist strap. Have your computer turned off and unplugged.

I wonder if you have tried use the video card on other known good PC and see if the same problem happens.

If not, try back up the data and reinstall the OS on your current PC.
Then install the latest chipset driver and reboot to take effect, follow by other device driver as well as the latest VGA driver and games installation.

    Hope this helps!

    Thats a good idea.

If not, try back up the data and reinstall the OS on your current PC.
That probably won't help & this is why:

This indicates that the graphics card is probably messing up.

" i get colour glitches then a complete crash"

I have seen the poor pin connections on the PCIe or AGP slot cause the glitches on some PCs.

Take the card out and clean the VGA slot using the dust cleaner and the VGA card lead connects using a rubber may help.

    Cheers!
