    Drivers after Reformatting?

Just the other day, I reformatted my Gateway FX laptop due to viruses, slow performance etc. I didnt back up any of my drivers onto a disk before I did this (Im young and uneducated about this kind of stuff). Now, I have no drivers and cant do much. It asks me to put in the CD my computer came with, but im pretty sure it only came with the backup reformatting disk. I can get into my 'Windows.old' file and see all my old stuff, but cant find anything on my drivers. Im running 64bit so most driver recovery/download programs wont work for me. The free driver download program you guys posted on a different thread only runs 32bit. How can I either restore my old files/drivers, or better yet, get new drivers and start with a clean PC?

I dont know if any of this will help you, but here it is.

Go to Gateway and find your model. The drivers will be there:

Ive downloaded 1 driver from each category thats 64 bit. Should I download ALL the drivers available? And what do I do once I save them to my PC? I double clicked them and they did something. And when I double click it again after that, it says that the file is already in use, and asks if I want to Overwrite it.

You should take all that are applicable to your exact model.

Sounds like they installed if they say in use.

Can you link me to your particular model page you are downloading from?

I dont really know how to do that. I tried using a link but it sends me back to the Gateway Home Page,
Do you want me to put up my PC serial number so you can put it in and see?

Modem Driver: if you are on-line you proably have it.

Motherboard: take the chipset. The SATA driver only if you are having drive problems.

Network: this depends on particular wireless devices you may have.

    Touchpad: yes.

Video: yes: take the first/latest nvidia driver.

    .................

I cannot test the download as I don't have a similar laptop but they are all .exe or executables which should run and install when you click on them. Don't save them but click Run. Or if you Save them double click the save then Run.

Most likely you need to restart the computer as well after installing.

Let us know if things are working better.
