What is the make and model of the computer?

Is this a new problem? If so what happened to cause it?

Can you access the BIOS Setup?

When you boot do the Lock lights flash on your keyboard?

Just to add onto jephree's post...

What is the make and model of the Wireless keyboard & Mouse? Did you sync Keyboard & Mouse to receiver? IE: Press "connect" button on receiver then press connect button on Keyboard then mouse.

the keyboard and mouse are some of the hardware that all OS's have to provide drivers for otherwise, like you said, you wouldn't be able to use your computer. Any other drivers/software that you install are optional and would be for added functionality like extra keys such as a volume key but basic functionality is built into windows. Have you read the directions that came with the mouse/keyboard?

Its a dell dimension, and its a new problem, never had it before.

It comes up just before windows XP starts to load up with "keyboard failure" then goes onto the log on screen.

no lights flash on the keyboard either.

I cant access any type of setups.

I have pressed the connect buttons on the mouse and keyboard along with the one on the receiver but still the mouse doesnt work as i think you need to install the software first!

Like I said the ability to use the basic functionality of a keyboard/mouse is built into windows with no extra drivers required. Trust me. That would include the ability to type in numbers and letters. You only would need any other drivers to use "extra buttons" like a volume control button.

Like jephree asked, what is the model number?

Most Wireless keyboard & mice require you to press the connect on the receiver first then press the receiver on the keyboard then on the mouse. The instructions that came with the hardware will tell you the order.

It comes up just before windows XP starts to load up with "keyboard failure" then goes onto the log on screen.
The "Receiver" takes the place of where you would plug in a keyboard & mouse so if your getting a keyboard error on boot the receiver may not be plugged in correctly. Again what make and model of Wireless K & M did you get?
