No, I'm sorry I didn't realize you changed it. I must re-read the thread.

Sometimes the threads get tangled. I've been working a few power supply issues.

    Sorry. I will re-read.

Jephree, I put my computer in the garage overnight @32 degrees. Brought it in in the am and it would boot, but the screen is all digitized , quite unreadable, but my desktop is recognizable. Could this be the graphics chip? Ironically I have a new pci-e card I ordered earlier but the machine died before it arrived. I was going to stick it in, but I think I've read that if you dont disable the onboard first, it wont work. Could this be cause,if so any instructions on how to do this would be appreciated.

This appears to be your board:

~Welcome to First International Computer, Inc.~

If needed I can download the manual. On older boards there was a BIOS setting to switch VGA but on a board like this it should auto detect. If not the setting is in the BIOS. It should function in VGA mode regardless. You will need to install the drivers for it from either NVIDIA or ATI depending on your card.

So I take it it is running... Might try MemTest if it is. My only thought on the garage test is metals contracted then expanded. Perhaps shifting connections. Freezing dead hard drives sometimes has the result of a temporary revival. However your power issues don't appear to me to be related to hard drives.

I found a post about this motherboard and graphics chip problems that talked about raising temp settings in bios. I also thought I might look in bis to disable onboard graphics, but have so far been unable to get it to start again. Maybe in the morning,( or maybe in the freezer). Please don't mistake me for someone who knows anything about computers. I just hate things that don't behave and try to figure them out. tx

Sorry wrote this before I got your post Ok I'll try mem test and then new card if I can get it to start again. thanks again

So how long did it run? What happened? What happens now?

Jephree, It ran for about 3 minutes before (please dont laugh at me) I shut it down 'cause we were going out for the eve, and my wife was waiting at the door. I have not been able to get it started again. It sounds as if it's doing all the usual stuff ,but never a flicker from the "lock" lights. While it ran I could make out my desktop thru the digital "soup". Left to my own devices I would get a mobo
