    Computer will not boot up....

Hello Jerphee and company, I have computer that will not boot up. when you turn it on all you hear is fans. There is a litle green light lite on the MB that comes on. I frist pulled out one stick of ram nothing. I then removed both all I get is a beeping noise. I put one in at a time and still can't boot up.

Here is what I think so, let me know if I am correct.

Frist thing is, when memory is not installed I get a beep. Does this tell me that MB is good and ram is bad?

Second thing what tools or process do I start to try and pin point the issue?

Beeps are good. That is what the board should do.

    Did this computer work previously?

    Try clearing the CMOS.

Yes, the computer worked before. What happened ( I was told ) is, my friend was playing a video game on the computer and then he gets a "computer shut down due to a fatal error." After that, I tried restarting it and nothing. I will not boot up in the BIOS. So, to clear the CMOS just put the jumper over it right?

If there is a jumper then move it from the present position say 1 | 2 to 2 | 3 for a minute then move it back.

If there is no jumper remove the battery for a minute then replace.

just throwing in a possible here, if you cant see the bios or anything, could it be a possible graphics card failure or error??? Just thinking, if he was playing a game, could it have overheated or anything??
I dunno, just a thought that popped into my head..

Actually, when the computer crashed I was told his son was play a game. Hey Jerphee, resetting the jumpers worked!!! ....Why does this happen? Video card is NIVIDA 7200 I believe. When there is a hardware fault of any type just reset the jumpers?
