If you have a floppy drive that is the easiest method.

    Did you find the jumper?

Does the BIOS now "see" the drive?

No could not find jumper there is nothing on mb like that, only thing with SATA 1 & SATA 2 is the mb conections 7 cable goes to floppy.
re: drivers when I go to site and select raid driver & open ftp there are 4 or 5 files there do i need to download all to floppy ?

    Yes on the files.

The jumper is on the hard drive. Not the motherboard.

There is no jumper on hard drive, there are 2 small pins but no cover or anything

What is the make and model of the drive? Most likely those pins need to be "jumpered".

A sleeve might have been in the original packaging.

Everything you ever (or never) wanted to know about that drive:

Except the function of those two pins.

    The install manual only says:

If the drive is not recognized in the BIOS set the BIOS options of your computer system to Auto Detection and LBA mode if available.

If such BIOS settings do not solve the issue I would contact Hitachi:
