I'm confused, if he is getting an error in event log that means that windows can see it. If that is so how does the BIOS not see it?
What version of windows do you have? Have you checked disk management to ensure that it has a drive letter. Since you're getting an error message that probably isn't the case but its worth checking anyway as you might get more information. Have you recently changed/added any drivers/programs/updates that might have interfered with it? Have you tried a restore point? The CMOS is worth looking into.
Also can you try it in another computer? Can you try different IDE cables? Can you use a different power cable?
This implied his BIOS did not detect it.I have a dvd-rom that was working fine but suddenly one day its not there anymore when I open My Computer. Same thing in Device Manager, as if it's not connected at all.
I tired unplugging and plugging the IDE cables but still nothing happens.
The nvatabus error simply indicted an issue with his chipset.
Clearing the CMOS would be the first best test to weed out other issues.
I did clear my CMOS but still...checked da cables, everythin looks fine but still its not being detected![]()
Does it show up in your BIOS? Does it show up in device manager? Have you tried the drive in another computer?
Just tried it in another PC, not working... I guess i've to buy a new one![]()
I'd say that you are probably right if it isn't recognized in another computer. They aren't really expensive anymore. I bought my DVD burner for 45 USD three years ago. I recommend Newegg.com.
