I want to take my uk laptop to europe (sweden to be exact) and was wondering what I would need to charge it while I am there? I have heard that I would only need a plug adaptor. Is this true?

Yep. That should do it. The European current is 220 so the plugs are different and just need an adapter.

The only possible problem is US Customs coming home. I hear many stories of Laptops being searched and occasionally confiscated at least temporarily.

Of course the stories I hear might be exaggerated or just a one in a million chance so to speak.
