    sata HD

Hi Guys, I just finished building a new pc the other day. It was the first time I have used Sata HDs. I only put the one in. Everything went well but apart from a couple of things. One, the monitor screen colour is a bit on the greenish side. and the other is that the pc is not really fast at all.It is quite slow, in fact. Like a lot of guys, I am still learning, so any advice would be appreciatted.
    Thank you.

    The specs are.
    MB - 4 CoreDuel - Sata r2.0
    500 Gig Sata HD
    ATI X1950 Pro Graphics
    Windows XP Pro
    2 Gig of 3200 X 400 DDR RAM

Not sure why you point out the hard drive but you can run the manufacturers diagnostic on it if you want to.

Did you load all the motherboard drivers and the ATI drivers?

If you want to scan with the DAL scanner at the top of the forum page we could see more details.

    Cheers Jephree,
the reason I mentionedthe HD as well, is because I was not surehow much of my specs you needed. Yes, I did load all the drivers. I will take advantage of your scan as well.

Hi, a bit of good news. I changed the Graphics cable around and my scren went back to the correct colour. It is however going from the small conector to the wider one on one the pc, so I shall buy a new cable which goes from , I think it is DMI [ not sure though, to DMI. My only problem now is, how slow this new Processor and motherboard is performing, using Sata HD.

    Cheers

The longer white ports are DMI. The shorter blue ports are VGA or D-sub.

You can get adapters. Use DMI if available on the monitor.

    Thanks for posting your scan!

Now then here is your motherboard:

    ASRock Motherboard - Product - 4CoreDual-SATA2 - Overview

First thing I note is that the board PCI_E only runs @ 4X. There is nothing you can do about this. It is a board limitation. Your ATI card is designed to run @ 16X.

Although this may explain less than nominal graphics it should not affect the computer speed outside of graphics programs and games.

Can you elaborate some more on how the computer is behaving? How slow is it? What are you doing?

Monitor your Task Manager. What is the general CPU % usage?
