If the USB KB got the same problem, I would suggest check the mobo KB controller.
Try disable the KB from the device manager and refresh to let the OS to recapture the KB.
Hope this helps!

My system is consisting of abit ix48 m/b, Q9550 intel cpu, 4 GB RAM, the OS widows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I do have two new pioneer dvd burners both with IDE connection. Te problem is in the bios (Phoenix) the DVDs are recognized. in my computer the two DVDs (installed as master and slave respectively, are recognized and indicated. But they neither read nor write anything. Both DVDs perfectly work with other computers. but not on this one. What could possibly wrong with my computer. in Device manager too there is no problem with IDE ATA\ATAPI controllers and in the DVD\CD-ROM Devices section the brand name of the devices are written. I have tried to update the driver. but windows reports that the driver in up to date and it works properly.the driver
Thanking in advance for any help to solve this problem.

Erich, it sounds like jephree is giving you good clues. BIOS/CMOS chip can be set to HALT ON: either No Errors, or All but keyboard, etc. The most common setting is All, but keyboard. Back in the "old days" our computers didn't have a whole lot of things to "look for"! The keyboard was our only input device!!! "Bone knives & bearskins."(Spock-the ooold Star Trek)I can't address laptops (hate 'em) (damn touch pads!) but I remember my first Help Desk job many years ago. I had a guy on the phone whos machine was beeping at him incessantly! I told him to put his hands on either side of his keyboard, pick it up, tilt it so it faced him, and then, firmly yet gently, tap the corner of his keyboard on his desk. Not surprisingly I heard him go, "Holy *&%*" as probably two years worth of muffin crumbs and bagel bits got knocked out of his keyboard. The beeping stopped.
OK...that may not be you, but we're overlooking one Very Basic troubleshooting technique! UNPLUG IT!!! I still have a PS2 connection (my KB is like 15 years old), you may have USB...whatever, sometimes plugs can get a little corrosion on them - plugging and unplugging a few times will scrape this off.
These are pretty basic, I know, but they're the two things I would have done first. (other than reboot)
I use Win XP...and will mourn at it's deprecation.
