Question SATA I or SATA II?

The hard drive, Maxtor 250Gb SATA, on my computer has recently failed. The motherboard is an Asus P5GDC Deluxe: could you please tell me if a SATA I or SATA II should be fitted. I cannot determine from the Asus website which is supported.

    Thanks

    Apparently - SATA I:
Serial ATA 2 (SATA II) - No
ASUS P5GDC Deluxe Product Information - PriceRunner

    Just to add:

Any SATA drive you buy today will be SATA II.

There is a jumper on the rear to reset it to SATA I.

Most sata II drives are backwards compatible I do believe like jephree said just adjust the pin
