    Sound Issue- Need some Input

Alright, a week ago I came back from lunch and my sound just all of a sudden stopped working. I listen to internet radio at work so I noticed it right away. Upon inspection everything seemed to be in line and I was busy in projects so I just worked without it.

On Tuesday I came into work with my PC unable to load Windows, it would post and start to load and then I would quickly see a BSOD before it would reboot...I was unable to get into Safe Mode as well as it would do the same thing.

This was a perfect opportunity to do a fresh format and install of my OS and get my sound back working. So I used another PC to set my HD as a slave to get all of my data off my drive before I wiped it clean.

Upon installing the OS and downloading all the drivers from the manufacturer of my PC my sound still isn't playing. I then went and downloaded the most up to date drivers on realtek's website with still no luck. Everything is showing that it is working properly in the device manager with no conflicts as well as the volume being turned up to the max on all settings.

Also, I went into the BIOS and disabled and then re-enabled the sound option and that didn't work either. I have went into the services and stopped and restarted Windows Audio.

My speakers are not broken, as they are built into my monitor and upon testing it on another PC it works fine. Also, my sound card is integrated and because my PC is a mini I would be unable to install a dedicated sound card.

    So, cliff notes....

Sound card is recognized and working properly - Check
Latest and correct drivers - Check
Fresh install of the OS including formatting the HD - Check
All volume settings are turned on and are not muted - Check
    No device conflicts - Check

Really spinning my wheels on what's causing this and I have resorted to playing music on my phone as I can't stand the silence!

What is the exact make and model of the computer?

Are you using a "sound card" or are you using the on-board audio chip?

Under Control Panel: Sound (& Audio Device) is your proper device set to run? Many devices might be listed. Also here Test your Windows sounds.

Do you remember the details of that BSOD? It could have been indicative of a more serious hardware problem.

You might also try Windows Update. Do you have the latest Service Pack? (What is the OS by the way?). Also check the Custom tab for Driver updates.

Yes it's set to run and I can't hear any sound when I test here.

The BSOD literally flashed for half a second, I didn't even realize it was a BSOD until I sat in front of my PC and let it loop a few times...it was that fast.
