Hi guys new to D-A-L.
Was told i would probably get the solution on here
So here is my issue.
I've just *built* my first pc, having a problem.
basicly i've wired everything up.
I'm getting LED'S and everything where the power is going in, which for me confirms what i've done wrong/right.
I turn on the pc, (THIS IS WITHOUT MONITOR) and it powers up for about 10 seconds then it powers down, leaving the LED's on.
the only thing that i can see which isnt normal is the graphics card.
the fan on it isnt mobile and i'm not sure if it has LED's on it but they're not showing if so.
Could this be causing the problem?
PLEASE DONT SAY: "have u connected all the cables?"
If i hadn't i wouldnt be here.
unless its a pacific cable.
Please help me if you have any ideas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
JAY.
Hi Jay,
I have seen a brand new video card(512mb 9500GT) fan not turning at all after I pressed the power button on the PC.
Although it boots up the XP but the heatsink on the video card is very hot.
So we swapped another same video card and the fan turns once we pressed the power button.
I would suggest you use another video card to test.
Also check if the case power button spring is stuck and check the CPU temp as well.
Hope this helps!
Happy new year!
Bill
Well i've fixed my graphics card, was not clipped in properly.
But the problem still remains.
I turn it on. runs for about 5-10 seconds. then it either turns off or restarts/Tries to boot again.
Everything is powering now. not sure about the optical drive but thats about it.
If there is no monitor connected, the motherboard may be shutting down.I've just *built* my first pc, having a problem. basicly i've wired everything up. ... PLEASE DONT SAY: "have u connected all the cables?" ... (Then you state:) I turn on the pc, (THIS IS WITHOUT MONITOR) and it powers up for about 10 seconds then it powers down, leaving the LED's on. ...
??? Did you perhaps mean specific cable, as in a unique application/use?unless its a pacific cable.
See this thread for some help on POST troubleshooting: http://www.d-a-l.com/help/general-ha...tastrophe.html
Could it be the PSU (power supply unit)? Check to see if your PSU is powerful enough to provide all the juice to your system.
sorry that my english isnt so good.
Ok so i connected my monitor up, it didnt work. so i tried another one and it still didnt work.
So i really have no clue.
It sometimes reboots continuously, or just shuts down.. and i think an 850w PSU is pleanty of juice.
Does the computer beep at all? Especially when it restarts or shuts off. If possible you should connect a monitor to see if you are getting an error message. Even if the graphics card overheats I don't think that it would overheat enough to shutdown after only 5-10 seconds; same goes for cpu. I also haven't heard of a computer that shuts down if no monitor is connected. You should make sure that all of the cables, cards, power cables, & ram sticks are securely & properly connected. That includes the CPU. If you have more than one stick of ram, try using just one at a time. Make sure that the ram is compatible with your motherboard and, if you have more than one, that they also match each other otherwise you could have problems. Try using it with just the minimal equipment. Until you get it going you can go without the audio card, LAN card, wireless card, etc as well as cd/dvd drive(s). Initially you only need cpu, ram, video card, & hard drive. Also try moving your video card to another pci-express slot.
