Dill Dimension 4100 Maximum HDD size
Hello
I have a Dell Dimension 4100 desktop
It is a Pentium 3 863Mhz, 384MB Ram
Heres the MB specs:
Manufacturer Intel Corporation
Name Base Board
Product D815EEA
Serial Number PR02336V124610BD00SV

I was wondering if anyone knows what is the MAXIMUM hdd size I can install in this computer?

Maximum drive size isn't based on the mother board or computer model but is based on the form factor size (of the drive), operating system, & file format. For the form factor that is used in a desktop, which is the 3 1/2", seagate has a model that is 1.5 terabytes (1500 gb) although for the smaller size, such as for a lap top, drive capacity hasn't reached that high. You can achieve more if you raid more than one drive together but that is a risky thing to do.
For operating system & file systems, anything newer than window 2000 is limited in size due to the file format that they use. If you use the fat 32 file system of older versions of window you are severely limited in partition size however you can break up a hard drive into multiple partitions; you are also limited in maximum file size. The NTFS file system of systems windows 2000 & newer has a size limit but it is well beyond what manufacturer's can currently make. You are also limited as to the number of spots for hard drives.
Does this answer your question?
