    DVD burner wont recognise discs

    Hi
I've read through varios threads but can't find the answer to my problem.
Suddenly my dvd reader/burner no longer recognises discs. I get the "please insert disc in drive f " This applies to blank and written dvds and cds.
I've uninstalled the drivers and the burner but when reinstalled still won't work.
The dvd burner/player drive f is on the same cable as the dvd player drive g,but it always has been and caused no problems before.
Also 2 new cdroms have been listed in device manager, they are both labelled:
"ZKDIV 91VGL2Z01IJ8 SCSIcdrom". I dont know what they refer to and I dont remember them being there before. I've uninstalled them but they come back after a reboot.
I'm running win xp pro service pack 2.
Any thing I can try before I junk the burner and buy a new one please?
    Thanks

I may have solved one mystery! The two cd rom drives probably related to virtual drives created by Deamon tools Lite,I've uninstalled this and the drives have disappeared. I think the problem is the dvd writer is toast!!!!
