This is a bit of an interesting problem I'm having.
I recently bought a new internal DVD writer, to replace my old cd burner. I got it OEM from a computer store, but I think it's a sony.

When I put it in the place of the old burner, with the same jumper settings, the computer would freeze while windows was loading every time I tried to start the computer.

I eventually started the computer in safe mode, and disabled the driver that windows had installed for the writer. In the bios, the writer showed up correctly, but windows gave it a generic cd-player driver. Now, windows won't let me change the driver, and If I try to re-enable it the computer will promptly freeze.

By the way, I'm running win XP.

Any ideas?
