Sound jumps and lags
Hey all. I'm having a problem with my Creative speakers on my desktop. Now and then (usually when I'm watching something or listening to music) the sound from the speakers becomes jerky and skips and lags. I've checked for drivers and there are no new ones. The device is working properly and all plugged in.
My OS is Vista Premium and my computer is little under a month old. Any help?

How much RAM (random access memory)?
-
3GB RAM.
2.4ghz quad core.
-
If is less than a month old, you really should be contacting the vendor to avoid voiding the warranty.

Got the motherboard changed. Still doing it. =(

Sorry you are still having problems. Does this happen with all sounds? Are you using the motherboard's on-board sound?
-
I asked the guys on the PC world tech support line and they have given me alot of possible solutions, all of which failed. So as a last resort so to speak they offered to change the motherboard.
Yes it happens with ALL computer sound, (msn, video games, internet, wmp ect) and it happens through my headset aswell as through my speakers.
Sorry what do you mean by the "motherboards onboard sound?"
-
Most motherboards have all the components of a sound card mounted on the motherboard so no sound "card" is needed. This is called "on-board" sound. Most motherboards also on-board network adapters and some have on-board graphics too, so no added video card is needed. However, except for the networking, many folks elect to disable on-board sound and graphics to install a better quality sound card and more powerful graphics.
So, if your on-board sound is going bad, then replacing the motherboard is the way to go, if still under warranty. Otherwise, you can disable on-board sound, uninstall the on-board sound drivers, then install a new sound card.

So if I replaced the Motherboard and I still have the same problem that must mean I have a separate sound card that is faulty?

You need to determine what sound device you are using. If your speakers plug into the back of the computer in the rear panel I/O area, that area of clustered connectors where the mouse and keyboard connect, then you are using on-board.
If your speakers connect to a card, it be located in an expansion card "slot".
Are you sure your drives are free of malware?
