Compatibility issue
The problem is this.
Recently bought a new soundcard from Phillips, it's a Dynamic Edge 4.1
Problem is the computer doesnt recognize it, but it is a plug and play.
Motherboard is a Pcchips M935D, could it just be the motherboard, the PCI slot, or just the motherboard and soundcard aren't compatible?
Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi, welcome to D-A-L
Are you positive the card was seated fully in the PCI slot? also is there another spare PCI slot you can try? What operating system are you running?
-
OK, the system I use is Windows 98, but I'm sure that the soundcard is correctly installed, I've tried it in the two PCI slots that I have, but the system didn't recoginzed it...
Do you have any idea what the problem is?

Do you have onboard sound at present? Make sure you disable this before installing the card through the BIOS. Let me know....
-
I have disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS, I did everything I have to do to install the sound card and it keeps failing, I have tried in both PCI slots, and the same thing happen, the manual of my motherboard doesn't say anything about soundcards compatibility...and also, this is the first time I use my PCI slots, I haven't used them since I bought the mainboard...

I don't suppose you have another spare PCI soundcard or can borrow one to test can you? I mean to see if yours is faulty?
-
I dont think you can lend me one, As I say you, I put the soundcard in one PCI slot, then I try in the other one and it doesnt work...maybe the PCI Slots are broke down, maybe...

Maybe the sound card is faulty? Can you try it in another machine?

I gave the souncard to my friend to see if it works well in his machine,He tried yesterday and told me that his computer recognized the card...What do you think??
