This may be an operating system issue, but I'm not entirely sure.

I am running on an old (and I mean OLD) laptop that runs Windows 3.1...I told you it was old.

It is a Compaq Presario 1070 with all of the original hardware except for the battery. (Meaning I have no idea what hardware it has.)

The following messages appear after the Compaq icon:

167-RTC Lost power - replace battery and run setup
102-System Board Failure

It is this error that made me believe it was hardware related...

I replaced the battery, it charges fine. When I say that, I mean I can leave the computer unplugged and on for hours with the new battery and the old one.

It also tells me "F1 Boot" and "F10 Computer Setup" on the same screen, however if I press F1 I get a message that tells me Operating System Not Found even if the 3.1 CD is in the CD drive and it is set to boot from CD, then Hard Drive then Floppy.

It is old, but it's been with me forever...Is there a way for fixing it? Or, is there a way to save the files that were on it? Also, is a System Board the same as Mother Board?

Thank you for your advice...
