This is not an urgent problem, more of a hopeful question. With a new ASUS F8 Sp-X1 NoteBook, my daughter is thrilled with everything about the laptop except for battery life. It will usually run just under 2 hours when surfing with WIFI and using the conserve battery mode with all unnecessary features turned off.

Are there any suggestions for how to extend the time away from a power cord?

Well you can always turn the screen backlight brightness down.. by pressing FN+ either F1 or F2 or an F button (will have a picture on it)
Also, when storing the laptop for a while, such as going on holiday and leaving it, leave the battery at 40% charge, as this is best for the battery
