i have a mini drive and when i plug it in it says something like you should plug it in an available USB 2.0 plug or something like that.

i dont think its there cos i tried plugging in all but nothing.


2nd question:
if an external HDD says USB 2.0, does it mean it HAS to have it? and wont work without it?

Usually, that means that you are attempting to plug a 2.0 device into to 1.x connection. Normally, the device will still work, but only at 1.x performance levels.

If it does not work, then you can usually add 2.0 capability to an older computer by installing a USB2.0 PCI Adapter Card.
