    Unhappy athlon

    hi i recently bought a athlon xp 24000 (2g) and after i installed it it comes up as a 1.5 g , i asked the guy in the shop and he said that it is only reconised as 1.5g ? 512 ram, 80g hd,win xp,gigabyte m/b, acording to gigabyte the board takes up to 2g.
    it is running at 100mhz, if i set it to 133mhz it won`t boot.

    Are you setting it to 133 in the BIOS?

    2400XP=2000Mhz(Real World)

    2000Mhz / 133Mhz = 15 (What your clock multiplier should be set at)

    If your FSB is set to 100:

    100Mhz * 15 = 1.5Ghz (what you claim)

    Therefore it seems likely that the FSB is the culprit.. although... check your clock multiplier is not set to 11, as:

    11 * 133 will also give you around 1.5G

    Also check out the RAM fitted, although I'm assuming the mobo is a DDR model so you won't have any PC100 Modules in it.

    As said - the BIOS or mobo jumpers are the usual places to set things up in.
