Laptop re-boots...
Hi everyone, I hope you can help.
My wife has an old Fujitsu laptop that has started rebooting by it's self.
Nothing sets it off, even just left on it will restart.
It doesn't shut down, the screen just goes black and then it's restarting.
Any advise or things to look at would be appreciated.
Thanks...

What is the operating system?
If XP do the following:
Auto Restart .................................................. .........
Also turn off the auto restart function:
How to turn off Auto Restart in XP
Right click on My Computer
Select Properties
Select the Advanced tab then the Startup & Recovery section
Select the Settings button
Uncheck "Automatically restart" and then click Apply
This will give you a Blue Screen with the error message rather than restarting the computer.
Write down the error detail then use the reset button on the computer to restart.

Thanks for your reply.
I did what you said but it still boots the same way.
No blue screen and no warning it's going to happen.
Any other ideas?

Does it make a difference whether on battery or AC adapter?
Do you notice any unusual heat?
When it reboots does it have any problem starting again?
CHKDSK
--------------------------------------------------
Try running Check Disk:
Go to start Run... and type: cmd
Then type: chkdsk /f
You will be told the volume is in use do you want to run chkdsk on next boot? Type: Y and reboot.

Battery or adapter makes no difference.
There isn't much heat, I already cleaned the fins just in case.
No odd areas feel hot.
Sometimes it does have a problem on reboot.
The Fujitsu splash screen shows, then it reboots, shows again, reboots, and so on.
It doesn't always do this.
I'll try the check disc.
Thanks again...
