Moniter up the shoot
Ok i have this moniter its pretty old brought myself a nice new syncmaster 2232bw and recently thought hey why not dual moniter, so pluged in the old 1 and well now when turning it on it displays the background for 1 second then looses picture (just goes black) however it is still recieving a signal it would seem as the moniter light stays green (is orange when not recieving a signal) i dont know what to try... have also tryed this as a primary monitor but still same thing, any advice?

Some information about your system might help - such as make and model of computer or motherboard, and the make and model of the graphics card, version of Windows (assuming you are using Windows). And besides the Samsung, what is make and model number of the other monitor?
-
ok er i just built this PC graphics card 8800gtx xxx mother board is Asus P5N32-E sli and i'm on vista home basic
the old moniter however is a rubish Advent thing (pc world own make) model name ADV15T
-
Okay, so this card supports 2 DVI connection and the Advent is analog, requiring an adapter.
What resolution are you trying to run the Advent?
-
1024x768 and yes i'm using an adapter
-
Just to add do you have 2 x PCI_E 6 pin lines to that 8800 GTX XXX?
Just another note the 8800 GTX XXX is a factory overclock of the 8800 GTX.
Not sure if this could affect the monitor.
Anyway just to add as I have used these cards.
-
well i have also tryed it on an AGP 7600GS with same result so dont think its the card but yes i am using 2 seperate lines on the card
-
Just another quick verification:
The light on the transformer (power line) is green?
-
Yes we are all green there too

In Display Properties, are both monitors listed? If you select the second, is the "extend desktop" box checked?
