    Question Dropped Laptop

I need serious help. First, I purchased a laptop from ebay (big mistake). I found out that I had pirated software and then I got the "blue screen of death". It is a Dell Latitude C610. At any rate, I just paid my $350 to get the computer repaired. He put in a "legal" copy of Windows XP operating system and that's about it. To get to the point, the VERY NEXT DAY, my daughter dropped the laptop on the hardwood floor and it won't power up.

I purchased a new laptop cord (3rd one since I bought the computer 6 mos ago), because it was slightly frayed again. I was desperate at this point and hoped that was all that was wrong. Obviously, that didn't fix the problem. I have taken the bottom off to see if there are any loose objects. It could need a new battery, but was hoping to tell if that's what it needed before spending any more money. (By the way, the repair guy wants another $60 just for diagnostics). Does anyone have any advice? I am desperate. I am a single mom and can't really afford to keep dumping money into this thing.

Sorry so long, but I could really use the advice....

What happens when you try to start it?

    Absolutely nothing?

Here is the main support page for your model:

Dell Technical Support Home Page / Dell Troubleshooting Search

Reseating the RAM is a good check unless it is getting no power at all.

Is it getting any power at all?

I agree with jephree, reseating the ram is a good first. I had an issue where I performed a RAM upgrade on and old computer and it wouldn't power up because of dislocated RAM.
