hello this is my first time on here and im looking for some advise. i bought an acer aspire 5610z laptop last sept 07 and have had no problems until just recently. the cursor seems to have a mind of its own and jumps erratically round the screen bringing up different things. is this a problem that needs repair,or can i fix it. i dont know very much about computers and the only way ive found to stop it is to switch off using the off/on button but have been told you shouldnt do this.
please can anyone help?

Often those touchpads are affected by static. Are you wearing a top that is staticy? Touching the ground helps remove static from your body.
You can turn off the touchpad using FN and one of the F buttons (possibly F7?) There is nothing wrong with doing this if you dont want to use it.
