Re: How do you know if your power supply is working

Remove the RAM and start it.

    Does it beep?

I have merged these threads as they appear to be the same issue.

If it is under warranty and you do not want to open it up then call Dell.

is not that i cant open it its that if i do open it i might destroy the sticker inside and lose the insurance
That's bull! Do not let any body tell you you cannot open your computer case. It is your case. Those stickers mean nothing. I showed you the instructions - from your manual. They would not be in the manual if not allowed.

It is YOUR responsibility to keep the interior clean of dust and dirt. You have to open the case to do that.

You have the right to add RAM. You have to open the case to do that.

You have the right to add another hard drive. You have to open the case to do that.

Note that if your hardware fails because you failed to clean the interior free of heat trapping dust, warranty will NOT cover it.

No problem. Just make sure you take the necessary precautions. Always shut down Windows, power off the PC, and UNPLUG the computer before doing maintenance. Then make sure you touch bare metal of the case before reaching in to discharge any static buildup in your body.
