    cant burn disks

Hey. I am trying to burn a .iso file to a CD-R.

I have tried 3 burning programs, Nero, Alcohol 120%, and Active ISO Burner. Two of the programs (Alcohol 120% and Active ISO Burner), are giving me the same problem. Which is.. When I add the file to burn, and click burn, each of the programs says there is no disk. I have tried 3 types of disks. All are CD-R's, and are brand new. The third program, Nero, burns the disk and then says completed like if it worked perfectly, but then nothing gets written to the disk.

Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Has your CD Rewriter worked fine before? When did you last burn something successfully? How old is the drive?

Yes. My it has always worked. I last burned a CD for music for my friends car, and worked 100%. The drive is maybe 4 years old now. Maybe 3. I can't remember.

And just FYI, I just read the stickies, and it says to post your OS.

I have MS Windows XP Pro.

Right, instead of burning an ISO file, lets try writing a standard file using the XP CD Writing Wizrd.

Pop in a blank CD, head to My Computer and double click your CD Drive. Copy and paste a word document and a few images or music files to the CD, whatever you want and then click Write these files to CD on the left. Follow the wizard through and see if it writes the files successfully.

Also, what is the make and model of your drive?

    just a couple of things.

have you tried a lens cleaner your lens may be dirty.

have you enough free space on C drive as most burning software use that as a buffer while burning

You know. Sometimes humans make really dumb mistakes. This is one of those times.. The CD's weren't blank.. And yeah I thought they were because they were in the case still.

Thanks so much. I been coming here for a couple of years now and I am still happy that you guys reply so quick and are always here to help. Thanks owen. :]
