    *Urgent* confusing issue

Hey all, ive run into the weirdest problem and have tryed everything.

Basically i was doing some windows updays about a week ago and go to restart my my machine to install them, when it turns on it go's through the windows loading screen, then when it should go to my user & password screen i get a no signal, but this issue only occurs when i have video drivers installed. I have literally tryed everything, i have went into safe mode uninstalled drivers, then my pc will boot up normally, then install drivers and restart and poof same problem, I tryed a different graphics card and same issue. So i tryed reformatting, same issue, i also tryed my 2nd PCI-E slot, same issue. I checked BIOS settings and even set it back to default and same issue. I noticed in safe mode when i went to display preformance, then checked vga something cant remember now, that it showed it was having conflicts, thats when i tryed my 2nd pci-e slot and still didnt fix anything, and then when i reformated i got another error code saying it installed wrong i believe. I can edit these codes in a few minutes.

So in my conclusion im thinking its either my mother board, or PSU, but i really have no idea and could use any input anyone can give.

    first error i got was : 0xc00000e9

    Self built rig :

700-w ocz psu (1 year old)
    p5K Deluxe ( 5 months old )
3gb ocz ram (1 year old)
    250gb hdd (1 year old)
tryed a 8800gtx (1 year old) and 9800gtx video card ( Brand New)
    q6600 quad core 2.4ghz ( 5 months old )
creative labs x-fi xtreme gamer ( 5 months old )

What is the operating system and what updates triggered this?

If XP did you update to SP3?

If Vista did you update to SP1?

Have you tried uninstalling the updates?

Please post any error messages verbatim. Most are easy to search when we know them exactly.

D'oh forgot to add its vista basic, i had already had sp1, it was a random update i even did a system restore right after to before i installed it so i dont think thats the issue. And i dont have the paper where i wrote down my issues, late here and everyone is gone to bed but the 1 error i did give it was saying something about detaching a usb, but i had nothing attached externally so that really confused me, and the 2nd error was something about a bad install of vista. But i didnt get that error until after i got the same no signal error as well. Oh and my monitor is a 22" viewsonic if thats needed as well.

ok i got my sheet anyways, first error was 0xc00000e9, which said something about a I/O error as well as possibly external connections. 2nd is, 0xc000000f and that was the vista problem.

I would strip down the system and try a Clean Install of Vista.

By strip down I mean minimal RAM (1GB) and only the destined hard drive.

(Just BTW: Having 3GB of RAM is probably worse than 2GB in dual channel.)

If you have any other drive readers disconnect them.

That is any internal USB connections on the motherboard.

Run a Full Format if not totally Wipe the drive first.

Active@ Kill Disk Hard Drive Eraser. Low Level Format.

I would also remove that sound card.

You could also try the latest BIOS upgrade. Are you familiar with flashing the BIOS?

    Who is the manufacturer?

    Did you run their diagnostic?

Usually if their tests fail they will replace the drive.

Was western didigtal, and i used a different free disk scan.

Also i had troubles trying to update my bios, which leads me back to thinking its the motherboard.

I would run their diagnostic. Again they will probably replace it:

WD - Service & Support Home

What problem did you have with the BIOS?

It just wouldnt update lol, also my 2nd reformat went fine and no problems. Had no soundcard in and still got the no signal issue and i only installed a video driver this time.

Forgot to add in that i also took out my cmos battery and tryed that which didnt work.
