Right, but when I took the Video Card and/or RAM out, I would still get one short beep! The new motherboard functions properly though- when ram is out- long beep- so thats good. Thanks for the link, I am going to try it and post the results later.

ps. Sorry if i sound a bit ignorant, but i am a DIY kind of guy

    It's been a while but...
I did a repair install, and it worked great. Booted right up after that. The problem I'm having is getting the CD and DVD drives working (2). Since this mobo only has 1 IDE input, I bought a PCI IDE controller card. I had someone else pick it up for me and I don't think it's the right part. It says "PCI SATA and IDE controller card". It has a IDE and two SATA connections. I plugged it into a PCI slot, and plugged in the cord from the HDD (since it's a long stretch and the CD drives cable won't reach over to that PCI card).

I went into the bios and turned on PCI IDE controller, and then went to the menu to detect the hard drive. It doesn't find it. Any suggestions?

Does the adapter show up in Device Manager? What adapter did you get? Any instructions with it? Perhaps the drive must be formatted first? I don't know - I have not used one of those adapters myself.
