My laptop seems to stop detecting my usb mouse on and off. It's the same problem whatever port I use, I don't think it's a driver problem and I've reinstalled all the ports. Please does anyone have any suggestions? Could just be the mouse itself I guess...

My first step would be to get another working USB mouse, if that works without a problem then you know it's the mouse and not the USB ports. Your next step would be to check with the manufacturers website for the latest drivers.

Absolutely, try another mouse. If your laptop supports PS/2 type mouse connections, you could use that too. Does the touch pad on the laptop work fine?
