Ok, so I bought a decently priced mic from Target. I plug the mic in, it's all plug and play, it recognizes the software, I mess around with some sound settings and it all works.

Some two weeks later, I plug the mic back in for use in an online game as part of a Vent server, and the mic no longer works. It's push-to-talk and it's registering my key, Vent shows me speaking, but sound is transferring from the mic to the program.

I've already checked and the mic is plugged into the right port, I've tried it as a part of the headset that I bought as well as alone (plugged directly into the port).

Any suggestions?

i am not sure but it once happend to me... i fixed the problem by unmuting the mic (mic in volume) or on volume control then went to options audio input and wave out mix/sterio mix does that fix your problem
