Emachines System Restore
I am trying to help one of my co-workers with his computer restore.
First, his oringal recovery disk is very, very scratched and it hangs up and will not continue so, I come home this morning and copied his disk to make a new one. It took a long time but, I finally it copied by Nero 8. Funny thing is, throught-out the coping it was giving me errors but, in the end it said "copying successful."
So, I inserted the copy verison and it said "copying files complete now it restart to start XP." Well, when I do nothing happens. I then restart hit F5 to select start up and I first select safe mode ..nothing. Then I restart hit F5 again select "last know good configureation" and I get this message "can't start windows missing \WINDOWS\system32\\config\system."
Any thoughts guys?

eMachine will probably send you a new CD for a minimal price.
You could also try a Microsoft CD of the same version of XP however this might conflict with any eMachine proprietary settings.

I have bought copy of XP Pro 32bit OS. I have restored 2 other co-workers Emachines. This one I am trying to fix is about 4 to 5 years old so, I would think his warrenty isn't good. Would the XP I have works with his sound, video..et?

The drivers should be on the eMachine site posted above depending on the model.
As to a replacement CD (if necessary) I doubt that a warranty is needed.
With a valid model # they'd probably send one at some minimal cost.

Yea, here is what is on the site:
Media Reader
Video
Network
Audio
Modem
-
That should cover it.
Don't know what the media reader is.
Again if there was any proprietary software on the eMachine CD it obviously will not be on a Microsoft disc.

Emachines Mode is this: desktop/T6412 can u see if you can help me get the drivers? Also, where do I look for those on the recovery disk? Thanks

Do the USB ports work?
See what CPU_Z lists for the Mainboard > Manufacturer & Model.
As to the disk I don't know. Usually there is a separate driver CD. You can Open the CD and look around for drivers particular to eMachine.
