Depends on your mechanical interest and ability.
Sure you can dismantle the PSU and change out the fan if you are into the basic mechanics of screws etc.
You could also try a very precise aim of WD 40 or a Teflon lubricant.
As to replacement at least go to a 400 > 500 watt PSU. That is standard for todays machines.
If your case format is ATX which it looks like then all you need to specify is an ATX PSU.
If you happen to have a spare PSU then go ahead and change it out.
Hi Jeph,
wasn't ignoring you, but I edited my last post on page 1,
hoping it would end up on this page but not so - if that makes any sense!
anyway, upon more curious researchfound this fab little site:
http://www.dansdata.com/fanmaint.htm *wd 40?*
hmm, that'll be easier than changing the PSU, so,
did them all:
PSU fan
CPU fan
Case fan + good clean
Lot better than the pics on page 1
Fired her up this morning and touch wood, it's like a rolls royce!
Can't work the oil in that fast surely? oh well, I'll give it a week and if still quiet will
post back to confirm and hopefully conclude this little journey![]()
