Need some help after installing XP Pro
I have just put XP Pro on friend's computer from work. He has an emachine T4852. The ghost restore disk didn't work so, I bought XP Pro and have installed and things are good but, his computer has one NIC card in PCI slot and other from onboard and I can't seemed to connect to the internet. I put the Eithernet cable in either card and my modem reads its but, I can't connect to the internet. The other network connected has an "X" through the little icon in the task bar.
So, here is what I need help on but first here is his computer:
http://www.emachines.com/support/pro...es&model=T4852
Here is chipset:
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/865g/index.htm
First, internet connect'
Second, in Device Manager I see yellow ? on USB controller and a yellow ? under Multimedia Audio Controller.
Everything else seems to be working.
Thanks

As to the NIC the easiest might be to find the drivers for that card.
You need to ID the card and manufacturer.
eMachine lists no drivers for that model and Intel does not list drivers for basic chipsets. eMachine is responsible for their motherboard drivers.
If you need the audio and USB then you'd be best off contacting eMachine by phone.
The computer should have had a driver CD.

I have the 3 restore disk but, how do I know which one will have those drivers? thanks for responding btw.

Put the CD(s) into your computer and right click and choose Open.
You will then be able to see what is on the CD.
Look for Drivers.

thanks, I found the drivers and there is no yello ! or ? in the device manager. I still can't internet connection with the onboard NIC. However, I will be installing the drivers for the NIC that is pluged into PCI slot. My ? is, I have cable internet and with the connection allow me to try another PC? Is the internet signned directly to my PC and maybe my ISP won't allow connection when I use his computer, duuno? What do u think?

If you are asking whether or not your service is computer specific then no.
Any computer will work.
There might be BIOS Settings that enable or disable on-board or PCI options.

Look in the BIOS to see if the onboard NIC is enable or disabled? If so, do I have to disable one or the other? I know how to get to my BIOS on my computer "esc" button but, what key do I hit for his computer?

I don't know. It should say on the first screen.
Delete and F2 are common.
